The Respiratory System
The Different Body Organs and their functions

- The respiratory system helps us breathe.
- It has parts like the lungs and windpipe.
- We breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide.
- The lungs send oxygen to the heart, which spreads it through the body.
- The windpipe cleans the air before it reaches the lungs.
- Mucous helps protect us from germs.
- Oxygen gives us energy from food.
- Dirty air can harm our lungs.
The Different Body organs And their Functions
- Nasal Cavity – Cleans and warms the air we breathe.
- Pharynx – A tube that moves air from the nose to the windpipe.
- Larynx (Voice Box) – Helps us talk.
- Trachea (Windpipe) – Carries air to the lungs.
- Bronchus – Sends air into each lung.
- Right & Left Lungs – Take in oxygen and remove bad air (carbon dioxide).
- Diaphragm – A muscle that helps us breathe.
- Pleural Cavity – Helps the lungs move easily.
- Epiglottis – Stops food from going into the windpipe.
CARE OF THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
1. Increase your walking speed.

GAS EXCHANGE IN THE LUNGS
- Oxygen moves from the lungs into the blood.
- Carbon dioxide moves from the blood into the lungs to be breathed out.
- This happens in tiny air sacs called alveoli and small blood vessels called capillaries.
IMPORTANCE OF FRESH AIR
- Fresh air is good for digestion.
- Improves your blood pressure and heart rate.
